American International University (AIU) is looking for dynamic and engaged full-time faculty for its newly established School of Education. We seek individuals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students, building successful learning environments with students, who collaboratively engage with faculty and mentor students, and who are ambitious about developing the education landscape within the Kuwait region.
AIU invites applicants for a full-time Faculty appointment in the English Education program. The ideal candidate is an innovative professional who leverages professional trends and pedagogies to deliver relevant classroom experiences. The successful candidate will have a broad experience gained from teaching at a secondary education level, ideally with some higher education experience. The candidate will also possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Candidates should demonstrate excellence in English education and be able to work within a small program, specialized in personal attention. Also, we expect leadership in undergraduate programs, curriculum development, and mentoring, and community/schools’ outreach. We welcome candidates who will diversify our curriculum and our faculty with regards to race, gender, and ethnicity.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral or master’s level qualification in English Education, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of three years’ experience teaching English in high schools.
- Demonstrated experience using a range of teaching methods, instructional materials, and forms of assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
- Experience teaching English Education at university level will be an advantage.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Prepare teaching materials and assess student performance for assigned courses
- Participate in department, campus, and cross-college meetings and committees
- Provide student guidance to develop academic habits for college success
- Submit student attendance and grade records
- Assist with tasks related to student placement, advising, registration, orientation, curriculum development, and textbook selection
- Participate in professional development activities
- Perform other academic and administrative duties as assigned to provide a high- quality learning experience for students
